My Journey

Table of Contents

Lately, Silicon Valley might be experiencing a saturation with a possible decline in the start-up industry but in India, the situation is quite the opposite. Having recently caught up with the start-up craze that enveloped the world almost a decade ago, India has seen quite a boom in the rise of the start-up culture.

All of this has got many youngsters (and some oldies) wanting to “move to the Silicon Valley of India and work 100-hour weeks with crazily passionate 20-something-year-olds in a start-up.” Or not.

Cushy jobs never appealed to me. Cushy anything never appealed to me. I think that life’s most defining moments, the ones that actually grow you, are some of the most challenging, arduous, disappointing, saddening and even heart-breaking ones. If you don’t subject yourself to pressure, never push yourself, you’re never going to see the diamond hidden within yourself. Whatever doesn’t break you only makes you stronger.

So when I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering later last year, this is what I wanted to do. I wanted to push myself. I wanted to challenge myself. I wanted to make a difference.

I wanted to use my knowledge and experience to help make the world a better place. That was the reason why I wanted to join Janitri. It has only been an eight-month journey for me. But oh boy! Does it feel a lot longer! And something tells me this is just the trailer.

Janitri throws challenges at you. Every day, every minute, every second. And the best part is that these difficulties come in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes they’re related to your field of work while at other times (more often) they’re related to everything else! And that is the beauty of it. Facing difficulties in all areas fast forwards your growth and the pressure allows you to learn a lot in the shortest amount of time possible.

If asked what is the one thing that I absolutely unequivocally categorically love about Janitri, it would be the people. The team is a family. Whatever problem one faces, there’s someone to help or offer support. The tight-knit bond amongst us helps us to empathize and proffer care and support while encouraging us to accept it as well. At the end of the day, when the going gets tough, this is what keeps us going.

Challenges are aplenty and support galore. Seems to be perfect. But every day is far from perfect. And it is these imperfections that help us strive for perfection. Everything about this place is imperfectly perfect. And that is beautiful.

So you ask me how my journey has been at Janitri so far? Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
